Effect of Physical Therapy on Low Back Pain in Amateur Athlete


Abstract
Low Back pain in athlete was a common cause of physical disability. Therefore, the effect of physical therapy on Low back pain for amateur athlete was reviewed at Kwangju¢¥Christian Hospital from January, 1986 to August, 1987.
The results are as follows:
1. In order of injury of low back pain was strain, spondylolysis, H.I.V.D. Contusion and bursitis.
2. Effect of treatment for injury such as contusion, spondylolysis and HIND., was at the good¢¥ state as much as 78.4%, 80.5% and 64.7% respectively.
3. Effect of treatment for therapy period showed satisfied result in, from 2 weeks to 4 weeks, 89:5%. 4. Effect of treatment for therapy method such as hot pack, ultra-sound, traction, TENS and therapeutic exercise was adapted, showed at good state with 82.5%.
5. After treatment, muscle power of Rectus abdominis was changed from 48% (72man) to 83.3% (125man and Lumbar extensor was increased from 52%(78man) to 86% (129man).
6. Almost all the Low back pain patient was limited motion for lumbo-sacral region at before treatment, but after treatment their motion range was decreased in limitation.
